Michelle will be speaking at the 2019 Super Insurance Symposium on 17th October.
2019 is shaping up to be a year dominated by far-reaching insurance developments that could have significant impacts on your members.
Hot on the heels of the ‘Protecting Your Super’ measures that came into effect on 1 July, the super industry is bracing itself to deal with a fresh round of legislative changes that are currently in front of Parliament.
The proposed changes – contained in the Putting Members’ Interests First Bill – will remove opt-out insurance for new members under 25 and all those with balances under $6,000. And if the surge of insurance enquiries to call centres back in July is any indication, funds can expect their phones to be running hot when the next set of changes are implemented. But much could change between now and then, with potential legislative amendments on the cards, including a much-needed extension to the implementation timeline.
AIST’s 2019 Insurance in Super symposium will ensure you are across these important legislative developments as well as the many other key challenges facing funds on the insurance front.
